Principal’s Message

It is with great pride that we congratulate the numerous Scott Central students who participated in the Sunderland Music Festival at the end of February. Many of our talented participants received excellent standings for their performances. Thanks go out to our parents and teachers for their support during the Festival season. We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Mrs. Wilson for her dedication to our students and the music program at Scott Central.

Your child(ren) will be receiving their Term 2 report card on Wednesday, March 10 and we ask that you review it with your child celebrating their successes, setting goals for improvement, and completing and returning the third page to the classroom teacher. As no formal parent/teacher interview day has been designated this term, please indicate on the return form your interest in arranging an interview and you will be contacted by your child’s teacher to arrange a mutually convenient time.

We welcome Ms. Sarah Bickford to Scott Central. She will be taking over for Mrs. Setterfield on March 22, as Mrs. Setterfield will be on maternity leave. We wish Mrs. Setterfield all the best! Ms. Bickford has a strong French background and is looking forward to sharing her enthusiasm for French with our students!

Staff and students continue to be busy preparing for the Beauty and the Beast presentation and we look forward to enjoying the play in April.

On Friday, March 12 Scott Central students will enjoy a movie day that is being sponsored by “Shooting Stars Productions”. Primary students will be seeing their movie in the morning and Junior and Intermediate students will be seeing their movie in the afternoon. We thank Mr. Strawbridge for sponsoring the movie day, including popcorn! Our gr. 8 students will be helping with the event and there will be a $2 charge for the movie. Profits will go towards the gr. 8 graduation trip.

With March break only days away, I would like to wish all of you an enjoyable holiday and a safe return on March 22!

Eva Matthews,  Principal
